Seahorses against Dragons
I watched a programme on television where contestants on a pottery throw-down made chess pieces. I thought I would do the same during the lockdown in March 2020.
I made a set of chess pieces out of clay, glazed and fired them.
One chess side were dragons (see below) the other were seahorses (not shown here).
In the photograph below, the chess pieces have become leather-hard and dry. They are about to be put in the kiln to be fired. after that process they will be glazed and fired again.
Finally, I added eyes, jewels, fur, and leather to the chess pieces to add character and fun.
I made the chess board from pieces of leather which were glued onto a large piece of felt.
The Game of Dragons against Seahorses begins, underwater of course.
